2026 In the Studio and on the Road
It’s been a couple of years since I posted a newsletter, but, like you, I haven’t been idle. From the small, weekly peace vigil here in Shelburne Falls to the large Hands Off / No Kings rallies which always seem to catch me on the road (E. Hampton NY; Cleveland OH; Chambersburg PA) I’ve seen so many of you turn out and stand up for Democracy and Justice. From a distance I’ve seen mass movements for inspired resistance to ICE brutality and the growth of Resistance Choruses. Pete Seeger always reminded us that a singing movement can’t be beat. The best of times and the worst of times favor topical songwriters and both have inspired a new batch of songs from me. So.o.o.o…
After a long wait (CD sales being what they are) I’ve decided to buck the trend and release a new album, 10 original songs and one wonderful Tom Prasada-Rao cover song (“Even You”).
This past May I spent a week in Michigan - Ann Arbor to be exact - home of my longtime friend and craftsman extraordinaire, Reggie Harris. Reggie has performed on and produced a number of my albums and agreed to do it again. His instrumental and vocal support shines on this new recording.

To kick things off I’ll be doing a rare solo concert, online, Sunday, September 27, 7:30 PM Eastern Time. I’ll be singing all the songs on the new album as well as a few that didn’t make the cut. Details and ticket sales here.
Come October I’ll be taking it on the road. All the dates, cities and details of my Midwest tour are posted on my October Calendar. The tour begins in the good company of Annie Patterson.
Annie and I have been performing together on stage and online for many years, as well as collaborating on a number of recordings, most recently the live concert CD Step by Step. She is a remarkable singer, harmonizer and multi-instrumentalist. We’ll be performing in Syracuse, Cleveland, Ann Arbor and Kalamazoo.
The second half of the tour I’ll be joined by Rick Burkhardt.
Rick is even more fun than his picture suggests: a world class composer, playwright, instrumentalist and performer. I first encountered Rick some 30 years ago when he handed me a cassette of his songs in a club in San Diego. Since that day I’ve been a fan of his brilliant & eclectic songwriting. He was performing at the time as one half of the duo The Prince Myshkins, and soon I was touring with them. Now I perform with Rick whenever I can and have a grand old time doing it. We’ll be playing in St Louis MO, Urbana IL and Valparaiso IN. Again, all details here.
November will find me working with Colleen Kattau to create an online concert on Zoom, Sunday evening, Nov. 15.

To round the calendar out I’ll be doing my yearly December swing in the Northeast with my very dear friend, Tret Fure
Tret is an award-winning singer songwriter and a monster guitar player. She’s also one of the nicest people I know and we love having her as a house guest. We’ll be performing in my hometown, Shelburne Falls MA, as well as Boston & New York City. See the Calendar for the where and when.
2027 I’ll be commemorating the 100th anniversary of the execution of Sacco and Vanzetti and the 50th anniversary of the song “Two Good Arms. We’ll be celebrating the 50th birthday of the Peoples Music Network and the 80th birthday of yours truly. It promises to be a full and intense year, and I look forward to spending it with so many of YOU!
